An update from Senator Charlane Oliver
The Boring Company — yes, Elon Musk’s tunnel company — is trying to lock in a $34 million, 40-year agreement at our airport with very little public accountability. And they’re hoping this slides through quietly.
First: Wednesday, February 18 at 1:00pm — the Airport Authority Board is meeting at BNA to approve this 40-year agreement. Public comment sign-up is closed, but I will be there speaking in opposition — and your presence matters. When the room is full, power listens.
Second: Thursday, February 19, at 4:30pm — there’s a special Metro Council Transportation & Infrastructure Committee meeting at the Metro Courthouse. The Boring Company will be presenting and taking questions. Let’s be clear: this meeting is only happening because Councilwoman Delishia Porterfield filed a resolution opposing this project. Community pressure works. The public can sign up to speak — and I encourage you to do so.
